Thermocouple Wire

Nanmac takes exceptional care to produce thermocouple wire of the highest quality possible. Unlike other manufacturers, our wire is calibrated to “Special Limits of Error” (SLE) which ensures your thermal measurement is as accurate and repeatable as possible. Our wire also comes as a “matched pair” for simplicit y Material lot and wire calibration certificates are available upon request.

Calibrated to “Special Limits of Error”

Specialty, Duplex, and Micro Thermocouple Wire Available

General Information

Type B

Type B thermocouple wire operates within a precise temperature spectrum, suitable for oxidizing or inert conditions, but it’s not advisable for temperatures below 50°C or above 1,700°C.

Type C

Type C thermocouple wire excels in very high-temperature conditions, withstanding up to 2,300°C. It’s ideal for applications like heat treating, combustion engines, and kilns where precise temperature monitoring is essential. However, it’s prone to oxidation and should be employed in vacuum or inert settings for optimal performance.

Type E

Type E thermocouple wire is suitable for use up to 900°C in vacuums, inert, or slightly oxidizing conditions. It excels in cryogenic temperatures and offers the highest EMF output per degree compared to other types.

Type J

Type J thermocouple wire, known for its widespread use, is ideal for general applications in low-moisture environments.

Type K

Type K thermocouple wires are favored for their broad temperature range and superior corrosion resistance, surpassing Type J in longevity due to its oxidation resistance at higher temperatures.

Type N

Type N thermocouple wire, composed of nickel, is optimal for high-temperature applications up to 1,260°C and offers enhanced oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures.

Type R and S

Types R and S thermocouple wires, crafted from noble metals, are susceptible to contamination in certain settings. Specifically, reducing atmospheres can severely disrupt their calibration, necessitating the use of a gas-tight ceramic protection tube for safeguarding.

Type T

Type T thermocouple wire is versatile, functioning well in both oxidizing and reducing conditions, and is particularly stable for cryogenic use due to its inherent low-temperature stability.
